What people are saying about Summer's Lifeguard™

"Summer's Lifeguard has prevented so many problems with Keegan’s port, and we are not the first ones on
the cardiac floor whose child had busy fingers! Every floor has kids with central lines (broviacs and ports), and everyone should know about your Summer's Lifeguard."
~ Madeleine Harrison
mother of youngest (7 days old) and smallest heart transplant recipient in Texas & smallest in the US

"Summer's Lifeguard is amazing. Not only does it keep the central line and tubing clean and secure, it allows a child to PLAY! We often forget when children are ill; they still need to be kids. Summer's Lifeguard allows them to stay busy with all the things a child needs to do to be normal and stay normal as they go through a really difficult part of their lives."

"As a nurse taking care of Summer, I was amazed with Summer's Lifeguard for several reasons. The first being
the cleanliness of her site; which was vital in the recovery process. The device kept the central line lumens out
of reach of the patient and out of the diaper area decreasing the risk for infection. The second reason involved
the integrity of the line itself. The wrap protects the line by keeping pressure off the line and from twisting which
can cause the line to occlude and sometimes break involving surgical intervention to replace. The third reason is each tab is labeled with the color of lumen making it easy to draw labs or know which lumen to start a medication in. In my opinion, Summer's Lifeguard is a great device not only for the patient, but also for the nurse."

"As a nurse Summer's Lifeguard is a lifesaver. I took care of Summer through many of her hospitalizations and when she first got her wrap all of the nurses were so excited because it helped make everything easier and safer. First and foremost, Summer's Lifeguard plays an essential role in keeping central lines clean, dry, and intact, and with this special immunosuppressed patient population, minimizing chances of infection is always the number one priority. Central lines generally only have to be changed once a week, but with young children we often change those more often due to spills saturating the dressing, kids pulling off the dressing, or numerous other reasons. Every time we change a dressing there is the potential to contaminate the line, but Summer’s Lifeguard covered her central line and dressing, greatly decreasing her need for multiple dressing changes. Being a night nurse, Summer’s Lifeguard really helped us get to her line much easier to draw labs or switch lumens without having to wake her up and disrupt her sleep. Also, central lines are heavy and hang down on their little chests and often get twisted, pulled on, tangled up in the diaper area or even pulled out potentially causing serious danger. Summer’s Lifeguard practically eliminates all these possible problems. I would personally recommend Summer's Lifeguard to every parent that has a child with a central line!"

"When I first saw Summer's Lifeguard on Summer, I immediately ran to tell our manager and educator about it.
I wanted this wrap to be available to all my small patients with a central line. I think it is was the most clever invention ever."

"Summer's Lifeguard is an amazing & comfortable way to protect a central line, allowing kids to be kids, full of curiosity, activity, sticky fingers & all. It helps keep the line out of little one's fingers that just want to pull anything in sight. Out of sight, out of mind! Summer's Lifeguard keeps dressings clean as an extra layer to keep food & juice spills, tickle times & fast action, and the rest of the world from contacting the dressing. Protected & clean central line sites minimize the need for extra dressing changes, decreasing the sites from exposure to germs and irritations. As a nurse, I've never seen a cleaner dressing, especially in toddlers & preschoolers, than those protected by Summer's Lifeguard. Color-coding helps find the right lumen even at night. It is the ideal way to support this medical equipment, letting parents focus on their kids' other needs & kids to be free to play like kids despite medical treatments."
